Image-Homage

Image-Homage grew from improvisations that emerged while I was preparing a 2015 piano recital of Beethoven, Scriabin, Britten and Debussy. Because I was both composer and performer, the piece continued to change through practice: my performer side challenged and reshaped what my composer side had written. Its improvisatory character led me to explore several equally convincing interpretations. This dialogue between composing and performing became one of the starting points of my Ph.D. and fundamentally changed how I understand both practices.
