Leedberg, de Sage

Leedberg, de Sage was conceived as an opera for a school choir and amateur orchestra in Roosdaal. The performers’ experience ranged from beginners who could not yet read music to advanced students, and the available instrumentation changed throughout the process. I attended rehearsals, learned each musician’s strengths and limitations, and sometimes created as many as twelve versions of a passage so everyone could participate meaningfully. The successful performances in February 2018 became the starting point for later transformations of the work.
