Piano concerto

Composing a piano concerto had been an ambition for many years, with sketches and abandoned beginnings accumulating long before the work was finally written in 2020-2021. The genre brings my identities as composer and pianist together, and the concerto became the culminating composition of my Ph.D. I initially hoped to incorporate everything learned during the research, but the actual process remained primarily intuitive: artistic knowledge had become embodied rather than consciously applied. The first- and third-movement cadenzas were conceived for improvisation, allowing the work to continue developing through performance.
