Playing “Time”

Playing “Time” for bassoon and piano was the first work I composed during my Ph.D. research. It grew from my fascination with time and with the way it functions in music. The emphasis in the title lies not on “playing,” but on “time”: time itself is the subject.

“I won’t even take the time... to explain how I played with time in my composition; the listener should experience it the same way they experience time.”
