Quartet

Quartet was composed during my first master’s year at the Koninklijk Conservatorium Brussel and performed at a Kaleidoscope composition concert there on 12 March 2014 under Bart Bouckaert. Slow passages focus on small differences of instrumental colour, bisbigliandi and sustained tones, while faster passages become rhythmically precise and virtuosic. One playful section places the four instruments in different metres, creating independent layers of polyrhythm.
