Social Networks

Social Networks is a short orchestral work inspired by Facebook and Twitter and by the ways information travels through connected systems. In the outer sections, piccolo and flute introduce chirping, phone-like gestures that spread across the orchestra; the slower centre is built around the notes F–A–C–E. Instruments and themes continually pass material between one another, turning the orchestra into a musical network.
